Want-It Wednesday

Ok...so you might make fun of me but there is only one thing I want this week:

My very own Edward Cullen.

So for now I am going to go pretend by curling up in my bed and reading some Breaking Dawn.

Giveaway post tomorrow or Friday...as soon as I am done reading! ;)

Flower Power! Or Just a Floral Skirt!

First off, I want to give a little shoutout to S&S...two of my very good friends who have been mentioned indirectly several times throughout my blog so far...and I have decided that they will now be referred to as S&S, official blog characters! ;)

Tonight is the big night! I am going to see Eclipse with the BFF and Vi (another new character, I am going to have to do an official cast of characters listing...lol) and I am SUPER excited. I originally refused to ever see or read any of the Twilight series, but last summer Vi persuaded me to read the first book, and I was hooked. I am not sure as of this moment what I will be wearing, but I feel like it should be something black!

Anyway, for daytime I am wearing a new floral skirt from Torrid...I really like it, even though it is a little on the short side. This morning I went to brunch with S&S at a cute little cafe with outdoor seating, so I thought it was the perfect occasion to wear my new skirt!

I thought you needed to see a close up on the pockets on this skirt...so cute with the little buttons:

The tank is a little big on me, but I was even brave enough to rock this outfit sleeveless! yay!

Tank: Old Navy, a few years ago
Skirt: Torrid, $34 before coupon
Cardigan: Wal-mart, $11
Necklace: Torrid, $14 before coupon
Hair Bow: F21, Set of 2, $3.80
Flip-flops: Old Navy, $2.50

SO much coming this week! My first giveaway, a summer beauty post....ah! I am super excited!
Stay tuned, dolls!

In Search of The Perfect Skinny Jean...Part 1

I was still in college when I saw a girl wearing skinny jeans for the first time. I mean, sure I'd seen them in movies about the 1950/60s and on ultra-skinny celebrities, but the first time I ever saw them in real life was at a Sheetz gas station. On a tiny little emo girl. And I wanted to wear them.

But skinny jeans imply a certain something...do I really need to elaborate here? I believed that because of my larger legs, skinny jeans were off limits. However, the more and more interested I became in fashion, the more I realized that skinny jeans aren't just allowed on bigger girls...but they are actually incredibly flattering. So one day I decided to try on a pair of skinny jeans...and what do you know? Not only did I like them - oh no - I LOVED them. And so my love affair with finding the perfect pair of skinnies began.

To date, I have only been able to find one pair of skinny jeans that I actually like. So naturally I bought multiple pairs. However, they still leave a little something to be desired. Since then, I have searched with no luck. So with this post, I am really hoping that maybe someone out there in the blogosphere can help me.

Here's the set of problems I am having:
1.) I am SHORT. 5'3" to be exact...so that is a problem with finding any pair of pants.
2.) I have thick thighs/legs, but small ankles..so the skinnies that fit me in the hips/thighs are too big around the ankle, making them look like boot-cut jeans.
3.) Maybe I am just picky, but I NEED a dark wash. Darker = Better.

Tonight I ordered these (because Old Navy is having a 30% off everything sale and because I really have my hopes up):

They offer a short length with a 30" inseam, but I have a feeling these will still be a little long...and I cannot really afford to have them tailored. But we shall see. I will keep you updated.

So alas, my dear readers, if you have ANY information on how I can find the perfect pair of skinny jeans, by all means, please help!

Paint It Black

Last night was one of my best friend's birthdays! Naturally, we all got glammed up and went out for margaritas! Here is what I wore:
I was so excited when I got this "dress" earlier this week from mark. It has a great painterly print with just enough of a hint of tan here and there that my new nude pumps went along with it perfectly (although the tan in the print is hard to see in pictures.) I also LOVE the zipper on it! And it has POCKETS! So exciting! The belt I wore didn't necessarily match the color of the zipper, but I was okay with it.
Dress: mark., $19.50 for reps, $30 regular price(available sometime in July I believe)
Leggings: F21, $5.80
Belt: came attached to F21 top
Shoes: Guess, DSW $41 on sale

In other news, my parents got a puppy tonight...he's a shih-poo if any of you are dog lovers...and he is TINY! It will certainly be interesting to get to know him!
Have a great weekend!

Want-It Wednesday + New Dress & Bras!

Hello lovelies! Today I wanted to share with you the perfect basic- a little cardigan that is so lightweight, you could easily wear it on a hot summer day. When I passed through the store quickly to do a return, I couldn't help but try it on, and I was amazed at how breezy it felt.
This cardigan from New York & Company would already be in my closet if the price tag didn't say $34.95. You can bet as soon as it goes on sale, I will snatch it up (if there are any left!)

In other very exciting news, last night I made a trip down to the nearest Torrid store to look at dresses for an upcoming wedding I will be attending. The wedding is "summer dressy/casual" according to the invite, so I wanted to find a cute little dress that I could feel a bit more dressy in, but that wasn't too formal. Here's the dress I found (please excuse the wrinkles, I just took it out of the bag):

I. am. in. LOVE.

This dress fits me so perfectly and is totally on-trend with the military style that is popular right now. It is the perfect blend of dressy/casual as well, especially for a 4th of July wedding...I can't wait to wear it for the wedding and show you!

Also- I saw another girl try on this same dress and it looked good on her as well and we were very different sizes/body shapes. My guess is that it would probably look great on any body type depending on how you style it! It's not on the Torrid website right now but I am sure they will have it up soon!

While I was out I decided to check out the Cacique bras at Lane Bryant. I've never tried these bras before but they are currently having a buy 2 get 2 free sale (now through 7/11), and I also had a coupon for $25 off, so I figured 4 bras for $55 was too big of a steal to pass up. I got 2 of their back-smoothing bras, which I am in LOVE with so far, a strapless (which I now need for my new dress) and a cute cotton plunge bra that works wonders on my cleavage.

Aren't they fun?? Even if you're not totally in need of some new bras, this is too great of a sale to pass up! Head on over to Lane Bryant and check these out!

Last, but most certainly not least, HELLO NEW FOLLOWERS ♥!!!! I can't believe I have reached 50 followers, so I will be doing a giveaway within the next week!! I am so excited that all of you are interested in my rambling! Stay tuned!

OOTD & Want-It Wednesday

Good Evening friends! And hello new followers!! Thank you SO much for reading! I appreciate you more than you know! I am hoping to do a giveaway once I hit 50 followers! Almost there!
I am about to go out to see a friend of mine DJ at a local bar, but I just wanted to do a quick little post showing my outfit today and a cute little cardi that I'm pretty sure I need in my life stat.

Today's Outift (sorry for the glare on my glasses, my camera was acting funny):

This is what I wore for going into school for a few hours and a friend's son's baseball game!
Top: mark., no idea how much $ it was...no more than $20
Cropped Cardigan: mark., again, no more than $20
Jeans: Avenue, $25
Shoes: Target, $19.99
Earrings: Old Navy, $2

And the item I have just GOT to get my hands on this week is a cute little cardigan from Old Navy...they do not currently have it for sale, but I believe that I saw it in the store back in March? Possibly earlier. Anyway, I loved it then and never bought it because I did not think I could pull off any kind of animal print...and the other day I saw a girl wearing it and I remembered how much I loved it.

I'm searching all over the Internet for this bad boy! They had it in both a gray and a tan color...if anyone knows where I could possibly find one (or one very similar), I would be forever grateful!!

Can't believe its Wednesday already! I apologize for my lack of interesting outfits...but I have a lot of fun posts to share with you in the next few days (hopefully!)

Oh! And if you haven't already, check me out on Twitter! I love sharing with everyone on there.

OOTD & Epic Fail

Today was a rather uneventful day...so naturally my outfit was pretty laid back:

I really enjoy this top, so I thought I should show you a better photo of the design printed on it...I think it's supposed to look like a lacy corset, but funky.

Top: F21, $17.80
Cardigan: Old Navy, $19.99
Curvy Bootcut Jeans: Old Navy, $12 (on sale)
Sandals: Kohl's, $24.99

In other news, I could seriously kick myself for missing the amazing sale that Torrid
had today...50% off dresses from 9am-3pm PACIFIC. Being that I live in Ohio (EST), I was browsing the website and looked down at the clock to see that it was 3:42pm here. I thought, "Well, darn. I missed the sale. But this cool dress is only $21 with the sale being over! Wow! I'll come back and buy it later." And lo and behold, the dress was later priced at $42 because silly me neglected to read that the sale was on Pacific time, which meant that I could have purchased the dress for $21 only up until 6pm here. When I thought the sale was over, it was, in fact, NOT, and later when I came back, I realized that the dress was really not as cheap as I thought. Epic fail on my part.

Anyway, someone needs to seriously tell me NO because I am about to buy up the entire Torrid website. Have you seen their look books? I always enjoy looking at them. I am obsessed with this one: Endless Possibilities

Maybe it's because I just finished a wardrobe challenge and am very excited about mixing and matching...

I made myself feel better about missing out on the dress by Skype-ing with my BFF. Does anyone else Skype? It is something I just recently started doing. I really love being able to video chat with my friends and family that are far away from me!

Alright, well, hopefully next time I post I will still have some money left to my name...at this rate I'm going to need a second job!

Summer Wardrobe Challenge...Day 5 and Round-Up (Better Late Than Never?)

Hello beauties! This weekend has been crazy! I am finally just now able to sit down and post for the final day of the... I actually wore this last outfit two ways! I couldn't decide! Here are photos of both:

Capsule Items:
Tunic: F21, $19.80
Skirt: Old Navy, $3 (thrifted)

Accessories:
Photo 1:
Belt: Lane Bryant, $21.99 (after coupon)
Shoes: Torrid, $39 (before coupon)
Photo 2:
Necklace: Avenue, $6.95 (after coupon)
Belt: F21, came attached to this top!
Booties: Avenue, about $8 (after coupon)

And here is a round-up of the week's outfits:

I had so much fun doing this challenge! It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be, because each day I knew that my outfit could only be made up of certain items. It took away a lot of the standing and staring at my closet, puzzled, wondering what I should wear.

I never thought I would be able to pull this off...I am so proud of myself and all of the other curvalicious ladies who took on this challenge! We rocked it! Now I will definitely be looking forward to future challenges! I've even got one in mind myself! ;)

Hope your weekend has been splendid!

Summer Wardrobe Challenge...Day 4

Day 4! I am kind of wishing for an extra day, I've come up with more ideas!

Today I actually spent most of the day next to the pool with my hair pulled back. When I got home, the bf and I decided to head out to dinner, so I got to wear this outfit. Then, we decided to head to Target (bad Case, bad!) and do some browsing shopping! I was very glad to have worn this top today, because I got majorly sunburnt next to the pool and the light, airy, flowy feeling of this top could not have been more comfortable.

Here are photos of today's outfit. Easy-Breezy.

Capsule Items:
Top: H&M Garden Collection, $14.95
Dark Wash Skinny Jeans: Avenue, $9.95

Accessories:
Sandals: Kohl's, $24.99 (on sale)
Sunnies: Ray-Ban, prescription

Like I said, easy. nothing groundbreaking or exciting...but super comfortable!
Tomorrow is Friday! Which means I get to see my BFF and head out to a bachelorette party!
I promise tomorrow I will not have pool-hair in my photos! :)

Summer Wardrobe Challenge...Day 3 + New 'Do + Want-It Wednesday

Caution: Fully loaded post! Ah! I have to admit that so far, today's outfit is my favorite. This top is SUPER comfy and with the studding on it, I didn't really feel the need to accessorize because the detailing seemed to work on its own. Plus, the back is super sexy. Perfect for when this loose top falls off one shoulder :)

Alright, so the jeans aren't so skinny anymore after I wore them rolled up on Monday...but I am still loving this outfit. Simply because it was super easy and still looks fun.
Capsule Items:
Top: Pure Energy, Target, $9.98
Dark Wash Skinny Jeans: Avenue, $9.95
Accessories:
Shoes: Lane Bryant, $24.95 (before coupon)

I got my hair done! What do you think of my new 'do?? I think I like it, but it is very different so it is going to take some major getting used to! I posted these pictures on facebook and it seems to be getting a good response so far...yay! :)

These shoes and these shoes are on my list of items that I am currently lusting over...and they are both under $25! Me-ow!

Alright, that's enough for one post! Hope you are having a wonderful week!
I'm off to see Get Him To the Greek (after the recommendation of Iza!!)

Summer Wardrobe Challenge...Day 2 + Haircut Tomorrow!

Here we are! Day 2 already!
Hello pretties! I have been trying to post all night and my Internet connection has been super spotty. I have also not been feeling the greatest today, so please excuse the lack of makeup and my overall yucky-ness in the photos below.

I actually styled today's challenge outfit two ways, for different things I was doing throughout the day. I'm not the biggest fan of the outfit but maybe it was just because I was feeling off today.
Here is option number 1:

Capsule Items:
Top: H&M Garden Collection, $14.95
Skirt: Old Navy, $3 (thrifted)

Accessories:
Belt: Old Navy, $13.99
Shoes: Avenue, $20 (after coupon)...I love the vintage feel of these shoes!
Necklace & Earrings: made by a friend

And here is option number 2:

Accessories:
Necklace: made by a friend
Shoes: Torrid, $39 before coupon...I don't remember how much I paid for them.

Which do you like better?

In other news...I have an appointment to get my hair done tomorrow...I am for sure going to get more highlights to make my hair lighter for summer. The only thing I cannot decide on is a cut. I've have been toying with the idea of bangs for MONTHS now.

I was thinking maybe something like this:
Any other ideas? My hair is pretty thick and naturally wavy, so I don't know that it will style very well with this cut...hmm...
I guess we will see what happens tomorrow when I get to the salon!

*Frugal Tip*
I ALWAYS get my hair done at a local Paul Mitchell training school, where all of the stylists are students and are constantly supervised by professional teachers. The prices are super cheap (compared to most other salons) and I feel like I'm getting a very high-quality experience. I would definitely recommend checking out a local cosmetology school to see if they offer guest services. It will save you lots of cash for other, more important things (like shoes ;)) in the long run!

On the Eve of...Summer Capsule Wardrobe Challenge

Beginning tomorrow, I will be joining some other fabulous bloggers in taking The Small Fabric Of My Life's Summer Capsule Wardrobe Challenge. The challenge is to mix and match only 5 clothing items with unlimited shoes & accessories over the course of 5 days. In the past I have seen other bloggers do this challenge and this time I decided I'm up for it.

To give you a little glimpse of what's to come over the next 5 days, here is a quick snapshot of the 5 items I have picked:

White Studded Top, Pure Energy, $9.98
Belted Knit Tunic (without the belt), F21, $19.80
Floral Top, H&M Garden Collection, $14.95
Dark Wash Skinny Jeans, Avenue, $9.99
High-Waisted Black Skirt, Old Navy, $3 (thrifted)

Alright, so these are the 5 that I decided on. I know over the week I'll come up with a million other pieces I would have rather used but I've got to stop somewhere...haha! I know that it probably would have made this challenge a bit easier if I had picked more basics, but along with this challenge I am also trying to challenge myself to wear a few pieces I've never worn before (ahem, notice that 2 of those tops still have the price tags on them), and to go a little bit outside of my typical girly style.

I'm super excited! We'll see how this goes...:)
