Here I Am!!

Hey everyone! I apologize for my unintentional hiatus! Life has been SUPER crazy lately! I've been running round like a maniac trying to balance work, school, becoming healthier, and attempting a social life! And what do you know, before I knew it a month went by without any posts! I don't really have too much to update on, and I have not taken photos in awhile, but I wanted to share with you the dress that I won from a giveaway on Michaniya's blog! These photos were taken way back in December! A huge THANK YOU to Michaniya over at Finally Accepting All of Me for hosting the giveaway! I like the dress! It will be one I can wear in all seasons!

Dress: Fashion To Figure, won from giveaway on Michaniya's blog
Belt: Lane Bryant, $20ish
Scarf: gifted by Erica at Plum Proper in BBM's blogger gift exchange
Leggings: Target, $6
Socks: Lane Bryant, $8.50 before coupon
Boots: Target, $24.99

Anyway, on to other news...here are some more updates on what is going on with me:
1. There is a guy that I am kind of seeing that I like...a lot. So yay for that. Not really sure where that is going...but I am keeping an open mind.
2. I am getting closer and closer to owning a DSLR each day...yeah tax refund!
3. I am working on my goals for the year...so far I have made some progress on 6 out of my 11 goals.
4. I am super excited that spring is right around the corner! My wardrobe is in major need of some refreshing! I'll keep you updated on any fresh new acquisitions.

Hope everyone has been doing well! I've missed you all! I'm glad to be back!

I Put On For My City!

Hey everyone! This week has been crazy busy and so unfortunately I have not had much time for blogging. However, I picked up my new copy of Lucky Magazine today only to glance through and see a special city guide on MY CITY! Ok well, maybe not myyy city per say, but it is! I was super excited when I saw this and the article features one of my favorite parts of Columbus, the Short North, and lots of small locally owned boutiques. I just thought this was too cool not to mention.
If you get Lucky's February issue, be sure to check this out. It is a full two-page spread, but I only scanned the first page. Or you could just come to Columbus and experience it all for yourself. I'm always down for a shopping trip. ;)

I'll Be Your Teacher, I'll Show You The Ropes

I would just like to start out by saying that I am very thankful today is Friday. I had a great weak with my students (for the most part), but my body is still trying to get back into work-schedule mode. Which is exactly why I am sitting home alone on a Friday night about to go to bed!
Anyway, I was completely in love with the outfit I wore yesterday. Although you cannot see it very well, I was wearing a collared shirt. I think knowing that will make these pictures look better. I was going for a sort of preppy/vintage-y look.

Dress: Avenue, $9.99
Shirt: Kohl's, $24.99
Leggings: Target, $6
Shoes: Avenue, $8-12ish (I think) with a coupon last spring
Belt: NY&Co, $1.99 before coupon
Earrings: gifted by my brother's girlfriend

One of the guys at work told me that I looked like a sexy teacher/librarian. That wasn't really what I was going for, but hey- if the shoe fits! ;) lol
Man! I really wish you could see the collared shirt better. Oh well. You CAN, however, see my mess of a bedroom. You like? Ha!

Happy Friday all!

It's Black & White

This outfit is really nothing super special but I am in love with this sweater! My grandma got it for me for Christmas! She definitely knows my style. I especially like the ribbon belt around the waist. So pretty. :) This was a good Monday outfit...effortless and still cute.
Sweater: gifted by my Nan...she got it at Marshall's
Tank: Old Navy, $5ish
Skirt: Old Navy, $14.50
Leggings: Target, $6
Earrings: gifted by my brother's girlfriend
Boots: Avenue, $49.50

I'm not feeling very creative or like I have anything cool to say, so I hope you are all having a wonderful week. This week has been crazy for me, as you could probably tell by the fact that I'm posting Monday's outfit today. But do not fear! I will post today's outfit tomorrow.

Rock and Roll, Baby.

This past weekend I got the chance to go to one of my favorite bars in the city where I went to college. Needless to say, I was super excited to go and dance my heart out to indie-kid hipster music. It also gave me a reason to wear my super-fun twirly Lauren Conrad skirt. Which, according to my brother and his friend, makes me look like I'm about to go perform in a ballet. But I like it....and I can twirl in it. Even better.:) (These photos were taken at my parents house...please excuse the mess of puppy toys in the background!)
Lace Tank: NY&Co, $20ish before coupon last spring
Tank: F21, $3.80
Cardigan: Torrid, $24 after coupon
Skirt: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's, clearance $11
Leggings: Target, $6
Boots: Avenue, $29.99 on sale
Headband & Necklace: gifted by Erica from Plum Proper

Here is a closer photo of the pretty necklace...& this is a shot straight from the dance floor!
I hope everyone had a wonderful time ringing in the new year! I have a feeling 2011 is going to be a good year, no? ;)

11 Goals for 2011

As you might be able to guess, I want to start 2011 with a plan. I've got 11 goals/resolutions that I'd really like to reach. I will be documenting the completion/implementation (hopefully) of them on the blog.

1. Lose 20 pounds before Spring Break:Vegas (mid-April).
I am in no way unhappy with the way I look currently, but I would like to tighten/tone up a few areas and maintain a more healthy weight. I've done it before and I think I can do it again.

2. Be on time.
I'm never on time. For anything. And I desperately want to be.

3. Get over J. & Move On
I broke up with him for some very good reasons. I need to keep those reasons in my mind and get over it.

4. Save More $$ From Each Paycheck/Stick To My Budget/Pay Off Store Cards

5. Buy a DSLR camera (this directly contradicts #4...but whatever...lol)
I've been saving up for one and I really want one. Plus it will make blogging prettier!

6. Create a Weekly Chore List and Follow It
My apartment will likely not need my every-3-week cleaning overhauls if I do this.

7. Become a Better Wardrobe Remixer
In an effort to be even more frugal.

8. Read at Least 11 Books
I love to read but don't make enough time for it...11 for 2011!

9. Make Some of My Own Clothing
I enjoy sewing & knitting...I think it is time.

10. Spend More Time Blogging
More time, more effort.

11. Continue to Become a Better Teacher
Through experience, learning from other teachers, research, grad school, etc. My career is something that I take very seriously and I am constantly looking for ways to be better at it.

I am sure that I could probably think of even more things that I want to do this year, like learn more Spanish, or take time each week to have some "me" time...but I will limit myself to 11.
What are your New Year's Resolutions/Goals?

Happy New Year, lovies. See you in 2011.

What I'm Listening To

Before I even begin this post, I want to give a sincere thank you to those of you who commented on my last post. You all remind me of who I am...you make me believe in myself when I feel like all is lost. Thank you.

I am slightly obsessed with my most recent Old Navy purchase: a Techno Hoodie.

Now, I'm not usually a hoodie kind of girl, but with my recent lack of enthusiasm for getting dressed, this hoodie has found a pretty regular spot in my wardrobe. The drawstrings are actually headphones and there is a little headphone jack in one of the pockets so I can plug in either my I-pod or my Droid. It's not the most fashionable, but if you're going to wear a hoodie (and for only $15), it may as well serve double-duty and play some music too, right? And it's pink, too, so that makes it a little more exciting in my book. You can find techno hoodies in Old Navy stores- it seems they are sold out online.

And now, just for fun...my recent playlist:
1. Dirty Dancing by NKOTB
2. You Be Killin' Em by Fabolous
3. Stereo Love by Edward Maya
4. Move That Body by Nelly & T-Pain & Akon
5. Last Dance by The Raveonettes
6. Please Don't Go by Mike Posner
7. Runaway by Kanye West
8. Music is My Hot, Hot Sex by CSS
9. Never Forget You by Noisettes
10. Little Secrets by Passion Pit

I have a very eclectic music taste, if you couldn't tell. :)

And get excited, because I am feeling a whole lot better so I am going to force myself to dress nicely and take some good OOTD pictures for you later this week. Finally.
